I’ve gotten a lot of questions about the Marketing & Mindset System and so I’d like to answer a few of them for you here.
· How did you become the Marketing & Mindset Mentor?
I’ve been married to D.J. since 1986 and we became business partners in 2001. Up until that time D.J. was a Major Airline Pilot. When the terrorists struck, he was demoted, took a 50% pay cut AND lost his pension. We lay awake at night thinking …how did this happen and how can we take control of our own lives again?
So D.J. quit his job and we started a business. We went on a journey of self discovery and became life coaches. Though we really wanted to help people discover and live their dreams, we had difficulty communicating that with our clients. We ended up chasing clients instead of attracteing them. Then we studied and read EVERYTHING we could get our hands on to find out the best ways to fill our business to brimming with new clients. We spent thousands and thousands of dollars. We hired a coach. By trial and error we found what worked! Other people started to notice how easy it became. They asked us how we did it and we began to coach them individually and now through group programs. It's become my mission to serve others by helping them be successful in their businesses. It naturally developed into the Marketing & Mindset System.
I am trained as NLP Master Practitioner, Hypnotist, Time Line Therapist and Coach. My background also includes being trained as a Reiki Master Practitioner and I have a degree in Finance and Business Administration. Additionally, I am a member of The Society of Neuro-Linguistic Programming™, President of the local chapter of Conscious Living Partnership™ and Success Coach Technologies.
I saw a tremendous need among holistic and healing arts practitioners. They were getting frustrated because what they didn’t realize when they started is, that they would have to ALSO learn how to market themselves, how to put themselves out there. They would have to learn how to manage the day to day tasks of being in business. I know what it feels like to be starting out. I have been in a place and not knowing what to do with myself.
· What kind of clients do you work with?
I work with solo entrepreneurs or small businesses just starting out or looking to take their business to the next level. My clients struggle with acting ‘business-ey’ or ‘sales-ey’ in their healing practice. They might make some effort at marketing BUT they are not consistent with it. They need help getting organized. They feel overwhelmed. They are spending all their time trying to figure out which marketing will work. They want to be shown exactly what works in an easy step by step format.

How many of you have done this? You’ve gone to the bookstore and bought a marketing book brought it home, read it and then didn't follow any of the advice? Maybe you didn’t even read it. Maybe it’s just piled up on your desk. It has nothing to do with how smart you are. It has everything to do with taking action and implementing with consistency. Often times there are personal limiting beliefs that get in the way.
· What are some personal limiting beliefs that would get in the way?
The single emotion that stops us is fear. It rears it’s ugly head in a lot of different ways. Sometimes it looks like complacency “I’m ok, I’m making enough to get by”
Sometimes fear looks like procrastination. “You know what? I’ll make that call tomorrow!”
Sometimes fear looks like paralysis. “You know, I just can’t do it. I’m afraid”
Sometimes fear looks like “I’m going to stay in the same job. I’m not going to learn anymore”
Do you realize the more afraid you are…the more afraid your client will be. It just makes a lot of sense. How many of you would like to be on a plane that every time it hits turbulence the pilot says “Oh no we’re gonna crash, we’re gonna crash” You wouldn’t fly with the guy
It’s important that you know this. You weren’t born afraid…you learned to be afraid. Somewhere along the line you learned this.
· What makes you unique from the other business coaches?
I am not just a business coach. I also teach self mastery. That's the mindset part of the equation. How would you like to learn to create confidence? How would you like to control all the words you say to yourself? How would you like to learn to recognize the fear and move past it?
“The quality of our lives is the quality of our communication” that’s a quote from Milton Erikson. Communication to ourselves is called programming. Once you master your own mind then you can be effective.
First you need to know that “What you believe, is true”
It’s up to you to focus in your mind where you want your business to go.
Wouldn’t you would invest a few hours of your time, if you KNEW it would double your income. What you focus on expands.
As a coach I look at BOTH your business and personal life to make sure it’s integrated. Sometimes someone thinks they are stuck in a certain area in their business and it turns out that it is related to a personal issue. Usually fear. I delve into both. Everyone talks about balance. I think it’s really a matter of harmony. To be balanced, each part is equal; to be in harmony, one area is weighted more than another at different times. For instance, maybe something is happening in your personal life and that requires most of your time right now. Maybe you have a baby that needs a lot of attention. Then other times, the personal life is running smoothly and your business will take priority. That’s living in harmony. It doesn’t have to be an equal balance.
What I do is make sure that while you are attracting more money and more clients, you are living a soul satisfying lifestyle as well.
- What kind of people do you coach effectively with and what is expected of me?
I am most effective with people who are willing and motivated to put in the effort. People who recognize that the amount of energy that they put into something is related to the results they will get. I want my clients to take action and not just say “That’s some great information” and then put it back on the shelf.
Ask yourself – Where do I want to be in my business? Then ask – Why aren’t I there yet? If you don’t have what you want right now it’s for one of two reasons. Either you don’t know how to do it or more likely you’re unable to get yourself to take consistent action. It takes action to put the power behind the dream. Without action there will be no results.
